California Smokers' Helpline Materials
Ask, Advise, Refer Materials
The following materials are part of a statewide communications campaign created by the California Smokers' Helpline utilizing creative developed by the California Tobacco Control Program. The materials urge health care providers to ASK their patients if they use tobacco, ADVISE the ones who do to quit, and REFER them to the Helpline for free telephone counseling.

How to Help Patients with Nicotine Addiction (Newsletter, PDF)
This short article is ideal for pitching to local medical societies, community clinics, professional provider organizations and other organizations that communicate with providers on a regular basis via a print or electronic newsletter.


Nicotine Addiction is a Disease (Web Banners/Ads)
Animated banner ads in seven different sizes encouraging health care providers to learn more about how they can treat nicotine addiction.


Ask, Advise, Refer (Flyer) *
Communicates the importance of the Ask, Advise, Refer intervention to health care providers and provides short, simple scripts that providers can use when talking to patients about smoking.

Click To Call (Web Banner/Ads)
Want to take your website banner ad a step further in helping smokers quit? With the Helpline’s Click to Call banner ad, smokers simply click on the banner to speak with a Helpline counselor.

After selecting the Click to Call banner, a box appears where the user can type in his or her telephone number, and indicate when they would like a call back (either right away or up to 5 minutes later). A Helpline counselor will return the call at the requested time and work with the smoker to create an individual quitting plan. Click on either of the two banners on the right to demo Click to Call.
